Atlantic High School had its first vocal concert of the year Sunday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m. The choir was directed by teacher Jennifer Gaesser. Gaesser is the new choir director who was hired over the summer to replace Luke Johnson. The accompanist was Ardie Dusenberry.
Treblemakers, the freshman girls group, kicked off the afternoon. This was followed by Concert Choir, students auditioning for the All-State Choir, and Chamber Chorale. Each choir sang concert pieces as well as one song from their show choir set.
Sophomores, juniors, and seniors have to audition to be placed into either Concert Choir or Chamber Chorale. Chamber Chorale is the top choir.
Senior Kallee Mudd said, “The concert went better than I thought it would, despite the changes that were made.”
“Sure on This Shining Night,” sung by Chamber Chorale, was Gaesser’s favorite piece. She said, “The concert went very well.”
