Two new pets joined the journalism lab on Tuesday. Editor Shelbi Tichota went to The Fish Store in downtown Atlantic to replace the journalism lab fish that died last week. Tichota purchased a bright blue betta fish for $5.
While there the owner offered her a hamster for free because his supply was overstocked after recent new litters.
Teacher Bryan Woods provided a glass cage and water bottle. Journalists are hoping someone will donate a hamster ball or running wheel to the little animal’s habitat.
Both the hamster and fish are unnamed as of right now.
