Students parking illegally will be subject to increased fines this year. The fine of $5 has been doubled to $1o for the first offense according to the AHS handbook. Punishment for parking in the south lot, over the lines, and faculty/visitor spaces includes a 45 minute detention as well as the $10 fine.
According to Vice Principal Josh Rassmussen common violations include “Not in parking stalls, not parking within the line, those types of things.”
A walk through the AHS parking lot shows potential violations, including parking over the lines, parking in more than one space, and parking mopeds in areas not designated for mopeds.
In addition to parking violations, students driving recklessly in the parking lot can lose the privilege to park on school property.
