Choir Department Heads Into Busy Week

By Josh Schorle
The choir department is diving into a busy week with three performances coming up within a span of six days. Students are reviewing their old contest material as well as preparing new Disney-themed sets for Show Choir Blast this Saturday.

Choir teacher Luke Johnson said, “I feel like we are so ready. Each group is doing something that makes them different from the others.” The Treble Makers will be performing “Little April Showers” using umbrellas, Diversity will sing “Whistle While You Work” while playing kazoos, and Premiere’s version of “Step In Time” will feathre a dance break using body percussion. All three show choirs will combine to perform “The Circle of Life” as a ballad, and dance “We’re All in this Together” as a mass show choir. Junior Danielle Lambert, a student new to AHS this year, said she’s looking forward to Show Choir Blast. “I’ve heard it’s so much a fun and I’m excited that I get to experience this.”

The choir department is also preparing for their Spring Vocal Concert on May 1 as well as Large Group Contest on May 3.

Freshman Hannah Mclean said, “I think we’re prepared for the choir stuff, but not so much for show choir.” Freshman Ben Parker said, “I think if we keep practicing, we can perform a really good concert.”
