Kevin Seratt, senior, made lunch for his teachers and other students in his independent study cooking class on Monday, March 26. He served corn dogs, macaroni and cheese, salad and cucumbers. It took Seratt about forty-five minutes to prepare his meal. Seratt also said he enjoys learning how to cook.
Students in the class enjoy eating what others make in the class. Colton Nachtman said, “What Kevin made was good!”
The students in Bev Schelling’s class prepare meals while learning life skills. Lauren McCance, sophomore, made chicken patties on a bun with french fries and peaches when she prepared her meal. Schelling said they work on cooking skills because it is “good practice.” This class also helps the students learn how to make balanced meals for themselves.
Wednesday, March 28 the students learned how to make cake in a mug. Schelling also helps the students learn how to use check-books, make change with bills and improve their social skills.
