On March 10, students participated in a speech competition at the Iowa High School Speech Association State Festival in Ames. Junior Caroline Trewet was selected as an All-State performer in Acting and Storytelling. Trewet will participate in the All-State Festival at the University of Northern Iowa on March 26th.Trewet made All-State her freshman, sophomore, and junior year so this is Trewet’s third year making it as an All-State performer. Trewet said she is the first person from Atlantic to make All-State three years in a row. She also said she is the first person from Atlantic to make All-State in two events in the same year. Trewet said, “It’s an honor and I’m very glad to go again.”Other students earning honors included freshman Hannah Mclean who received division 1 recognition in Radio News Announcing and junior Shelby Cooper who received a division 1 recognition in Acting. Six other students received unanimous division 1 recognitions from their three-judge panels: Scott Caslow in Prose, Shelby Cooper in Public Address, and Malachi Wickman in Original Oratory and in Storytelling. All six of these people were All-State nominees.
