On Saturday, Jan. 21, Atlantic’s three show choirs traveled to Dallas Center-Grimes for the annual Show Choir competition.
The freshman girls group, Treble Makers, scored a total of 425 points out of a possible 600 points in their division. They ranked 3rd in the Prep division. The JV show choir, Diversity, scored a total of 427 points. This score put them in 2nd place in the Prep division. In first place was the Pella Dutch Divas.
The varsity show choir, Premiere, scored 466 points putting them in 4th place.
Choir teacher Luke Johnson said, “We did better at Dallas Center-Grimes than we did at Swing Inn.”
The season is going pretty well so far, said freshman Ben Parker from Diversity, “There’s still stuff to improve upon, but we’re close to a great show.”
Junior Kallee Mudd from Premiere said some general cleaning of choreography and reviewing some of the songs will help improve the show. Mudd also said the show choir season is off to a great start, “It’s a lot better than last year.”
The next Show Choir performance is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 30., in the AHS auditorium at the following times:
Treble Makers, 4:14
Diversity, 6:26
Premiere, 8:04
