Drew Lehmann will be speaking at the Atlantic High School January 12. Lehmann works full time with a nonprofit organization that provides drug prevention and youth leadership programs in a suburb of New Orleans. An assembly will take place between second and third period on Thursday to accommodate for the speaker. Lehmann has similar topics to Milton Creagh that spoke at AHS last year.
Sophomore Maren McNees heard Lehmann speak at the Elks Convention in Phoenix this past summer.
Lehmann talks to about 100 schools or groups each year.
According to Lehmann, his message “is about taking advantage of the opportunities students have now and about successfully getting through what is, for many teens, the toughest years of their life.”
He shares many life lessons with students that he hopes will hit home.
There will be an evening session for community members to hear his message as well.
The National Honor Society helped bring Lehmann to AHS. NHS went around the community to various clubs, such as the Elks, and raised the necessary amount of $2,500 dollars to pay for the day of expenses.
