After an impressive shooting performance in the first half of Tuesday night’s game against Clarinda, the Trojans cooled off in the second half en route to a 63-59 overtime loss. The Trojans led 34-19 at halfime, before the Cardinals outscored the Trojans 44-25 in the second half and overtime.

The Trojans fall to 3-1 with the loss.

Atlantic led 23-5 in the first quarter and never let up in the first half.

Atlantic led by as many as 19 in the first two quarters of the game.

In the second half, the Trojans tried to slow the game down, but were taken out of their flawless rhythm of the first half. Atlantic managed to score only eight points in the third quarter.

Atlantic led 52-46 with under a minute to go in the final quarter, before Tyler Steeve and Kramer Samuelson hit three-point field goals to tie the game at 52 with six seconds left.

Junior Dalton Franken had a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but his lay-up crashed hard off the backboard.

Clarinda took their first lead of the game in overtime and led by as many as five in the overtime period.  The Trojans never led.

Atlantic hosts Shenandoah in the AMS gym on Friday night.

Girls game:

The Atlantic Trojanns went on the road Tuesday night and defeated the Clarinda Cardinals 53-45.

The Trojanns improve to 2-5 on the season with the win.

The girls travel Shenandoah to face the Fillies on Friday night.
