“I’d much rather face 10 teams in a row like this than a team we’re going to beat easily. Teams like this tell us what we need to improve on and get better at,” coach Chris Jahnke said after Tuesday night’s match against the Lewis Central Titans. The Titans beat the Trojanns 25-10, 25-11, and 25-20.
The Titans were an athletically sound volleyball team, showing their skill from the opening serve. Lewis Central jumped out to a 6-1 lead before coach Jahnke had to use his first timeout of the evening. The Trojanns were unable to establish any momentum throughout the entire night. Atlantic led only six times (all in the final game).
The Trojanns led by as many as five in game three, but the Titans took then took the lead, 14-13, after a kill by McNeese State recruit, senior Carly DeMarque. DeMarque led the Titans with 17 kills. The Trojanns had 17 kills as a team.
