Juniors dominate dodgeball

By Josh Schorle

The class of 2013 won this year’s Homecoming dodgeball competition. Teams fought it out during seminar on Monday and Thursday in a battle of the classes.

On Monday, it was the freshman against the juniors and the sophomores clashing with the seniors. First, the freshman-junior contest brought a junior victory in the end. Junior Sarah Masker told AHSneedle about how her team did saying, “We played together as a team, and did a pretty good job as a team.”

Next was the sophomore-senior game that was full of high energy, especially when the tables turned on the sophomore team and Kristin Johnk was stranded to fend for her team. When asked what it felt like to be the only one left on her team, Johnk said “I was scared. I hate being in front of people.” Johnk managed to fight off the seniors until she crossed the line, losing on a foot-fault. When asked, Johnk credited softball for developing her dodgeball skills.

On Thursday the freshmen played the sophomores in the consolation round.

In the final match-up, seniors faced the juniors. “We didn’t have very much participation,” said senior Marissa Berns. “We had a lot of spirit and a lot of fun.”

Senior Lucas Blum noted “They knew how to dodge, dip, duck, dive, and dodge.”
