AHS junior Jordan Mauk is hospitalized in Des Moines with a staff infection. Mauk, the starting center for the Trojan football team, is hospitalized a MRSA staff infection in his bones, muscles, and lungs, according to his father Jeff Mauk. Jeff Mauk has given AHSneedle permission to share information from his Facebook page with students and staff. According to a post from Tuesday evening, “Breathing is a challenge for Jordan Mauk. X-ray of lungs last night show visually that he has about forty percent capacity. He wears a full-face Bi-pap mask now.” The post also reported that Jordan’s fever is slowly trending down at 102 degrees. “Pain is at two, which is great. MRSA infection in the blood has stopped growing. Long way from over. Staying the course of antibiotics.”

According to Coach Tim Duff, AHS football players who are able will drive to Des Moines to visit Jordan this evening (Wednesday).
