Last year was the first year that Atlantic High School hosted the annual Solo Ensemble Contest. Saturday, March 26, will mark Atlantic’s second year holding this prestigious event.
Forty students will compete in solo ensembles this year. Two groups trying to repeat the success they had last year when they were named Best of Center. The Men’s Double Quartet earned Best of Center and is returning four performers to the group of eight. The Senior Double Quartet is also looking for a repeat. The group has all of its members returning.
Vocal music teacher Luke Johnson said, “ We can only hope for the best and if it ends up in a Best of Center, we’ll be happy about it.”
The contest is open to the public for a freewill donation. The audience is welcome to watch their kids and is encouraged to attend. There will be six rooms set up for band and choir. The rooms are numbered I II and III.
