TWIRP Week

Junior Savannah Hoye, junior Katie Groves, and freshman Kristin Johnk show off the dress-day posters

by Anthony Robinson
Believe it or not TWIRP week is next week, Monday, Feb. 28 through Friday, March 4. With dress days, Ironman volleyball, and the annual TWIRP dance on Friday night, TWIRP week will be an exciting, energy-filled week.
Monday‘s dress day is duct tape dress day. Students are encouraged to wear all different colors of duct tape to school on Monday.
Tuesday is the annual stop light dress day. Students wear red if they have a date,  green if they want or need a date, or yellow if they just don’t care.
Ironman volleyball will also begin on Tuesday during Primetime. Boys from each class will square off in the annual volleyball tournament.
Rock Star dress day is set for Wednesday. Activities will be limited on Wednesday, due to the Wednesday early-out schedule.
Thursday is salad dressing dress day. Students  dress according to their favorite salad dressing. For example, if your favorite salad dressing is French, dress like you are from France, if your favorite is Ranch, dress like you live on a ranch.
The winners from Tuesday’s Ironman volleyball match-ups will face off in the student championship on Thursday during Primetime.

Freshmen Lauren Krogman, Shelby Mckinley, Heather StJohn, Dylan Russel, and Stormy Petersen show off their Monday duct tape.

On Friday, an assembly schedule will be in order for a TWIRP assembly including the Atlantic High School tradition of the student champions from Ironman volleyball competing against the faculty at AHS.
Students dress like their dates on Friday.

As students of the school, you cannot be upset about the dress days for TWIRP. All students are encouraged to come to student council meetings to put forth ideas such as dress up days as well as submit them to the student concerns box in the library. If you would like different dress up days, let us know or come to a meeting and give us your ideas. Otherwise, continue to enjoy the school spirit and dress up!

if we choose all the dress up days as a student body instead of the council then it takes all the fun out of seeing what we will have to dress up like.

yeah, duct tape day is stupid. no one dresses up just because its no fun after doing it every year. maybe its time for some creativity within the council? brainstorm.

If you have any suggestions for next years dressup days, join Student Council or put them in the student concerns box in the media center.

I disagree. I know we’ve done duct tape day a lot, but it can b kind of a fun day to see all the random things that can b made of duct tape.

As a student council we try to incorporate old favorites as well as new dress up days to spark up the school spirit. We try to get as many students and teachers involved as possible. But we can’t make everybody happy. Most people enjoy duct tape day because it is a creative way to show off creativity, also who doesn’t love duct tape?
