Lady Gaga’s on the right track-GUEST OPINION

by Cammi Nelson

Lady Gaga’s new single, “Born This Way” was released Friday, Feb. 11, very early the morning.  Thousands of Little Monsters (Gaga fans) were posting great remarks about the new record.  “Born This Way” was played back-to-back on radios in many states, even countries.

Lady Gaga has definitely broken a record with her new hit.  In less than an hour, “Born This Way” was number one in 23 countries and number one on iTunes.

Lady Gaga’s meaningful lyrics and up-beat joyful sound just makes you want to get up and dance.  This song isn’t like any other record from her previous albums.  This time it’s not about fame or money.  It’s about being yourself and loving who you are because you were born this way and you’re beautiful the way you are.  Lady Gaga is trying to break the world where everyone is judged because you’re black, lesbian, gay, transgender, or anything else.  You shouldn’t care what people say or think about you because you’re perfect just as you.

I think this new record will give people the idea to accept yourself and not to make judgment towards others.

Lyrics from “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga:

I’m beautiful ‘cause God
makes no mistakes.
I’m on the right track baby,
I was born this way.

Don’t hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you’re set.
I’m on the right track, baby.
I was born this way.

Well said, Cammi. I have been a fan of Lady Gaga for a little over a year. Before now it’s been hard to explain Gaga’s stance on self worth and love. Though this has been her belief all along, I’m so happy to have a song that says “it’s okay to be gay” or “don’t be afraid of who you are” so directly. I’m glad you are able to embrace this too.
