As a high school athlete, Nathan Gifford has participated in track, football, golf, and basketball. One of the most difficult obstacles Gifford has come across is tearing his right ACL, not once, but twice. This injury occurred his junior year of football. It was a hard winter with surgery and many physical therapy sessions. The next spring, Gifford made his favorite memory when he and the rest of AHS golf team made it to state. “It was great to experience and a dream come true for my friends and I,” said Gifford. That summer, Gifford tore his ACL again at a football camp. That was the moment when he knew he wasn’t going to be able to play the game he loved his senior year. When the season rolled around, Gifford couldn’t play, but was at every practice and game supporting his “brothers”.

Not only does Gifford love to participate in sports, he also loves to watch them. Gifford attends almost every Nebraska Cornhusker home football game. He has always stood behind The Huskers, through the good and the bad. His favorite memory as a Husker fan was “watching Nebraska beat Michigan State in football last year.”

Gifford is also a family man. He has always looked up to his dad. When he was young, his father bought him stocks, and gave him an interest in finance. Gifford’s most influential person throughout his high school career was his mom Val. Even though he and his older sister Libby fight, they still love each other and love making memories together. Gifford’s most memorable family moment is going on vacations. Gifford has a dog, Jinger, who is also his best friend.
