The Atlantic girls and boys basketball teams traveled to Tri-Center High School for a girl-boy double header Thursday night. In game one, the Trojanns never led, losing to Tri-Center 47-43.
Down by 11 at the half (25-14), the Trojanns went on a ten-to-nothing run to pull within one point early in the second half. Tri-Center erased the Trojanns’ progress by going on a 14-2 run to close out the third quarter, taking a 39-26 lead into the fourth.
Tri-Center was unable to seal the deal, however, missing more free throws than they made in the fourth quarter. The Trojanns pulled within three points after eight consecutive points by senior Taylor Young. After a jump-ball, the possession arrow gave the ball back to Tri-Center with less than 10 seconds remaining in the game. After a Trojanns foul, Tri-Center was able to hit one of two free throws to put the game out of reach of the Trojanns, 47-43.
Young led Atlantic with 19 points, 15 coming in the second half.
