This new semester the Special Olympics regional basketball games will be held in Council Bluffs. The games will be at the Iowa School for the Deaf, on Jan. 18th at 3:30. The cheerleaders and dancers will perform during the game. These games will decide who qualifies for the state tournament.
In another type of competition, AHS students participating in the Great Plans Math League will be compete on Saturday, Jan. 15, at Iowa Falls High School. The winners will move on to the state finals, which will be held on Feb. 12, at Iowa State University (Ames). Any high school student may participate, and a student who qualifies for state at any monthly contest throughout the year is allegeable to go to state completion at Iowa City West High School in April. From there, qualifying students can go to regionals at University of Missouri in Kansas City in May. The American Mathematics Completion 10 and 12 will be held on Feb. 8.
The Mathematics Olympiad will be in Maryville Missouri at Northwest Missouri State University in February.
