Atlantic-CAM Wrestlers take 4th at Lincoln Dual Tournament

The Atlantic-CAM wrestlers placed fourth out of 10 teams on Saturday, Jan. 2, at the Lincoln High School duals tournament in Des Moines. Atlantic-CAM wrestled five out of the 10 teams.  Sophomore Kole Hansen won all five of his matches.

  • Atlantic-CAM vs. Des Moines Roosevelt

Freshman Chase McLaren won by fall in 1:19 over Grace Massier. Junior Colby Sorensen won by forfeit. Junior Drake Roller won by fall in 1:53 over Evan Konrad. Junior Zac Stork won by fall in 2:00 vs. Andrew Woock. CAM senior Keagan Hosfelt beat Josh Sanders by fall in 1:11. Sophomore John McConkey won by 5-3 decision over Sunday Deng. Sophomore Kole Hansen won by a major decision, 14-3, over Cade Pahl.

  • Atlantic-CAM vs Des Moines North/Hoover

Freshman Connor Pellet won by fall in 1:41 over Dylan Bonsau. Roller over Phil Gaye by fall 4:20. Stork over Alex Maxeiner fall 0:32. Hosfelt by Forfeit. McConkey by decision 4-2 over Ad Edwards. Hansen over Zeke Jones-Williams by fall 0:35. McLaren won by forfeit.

  • Atlantic-CAM vs Perry

McLaren over Fernando Catalan by fall 1:04. Sorensen beat Zach Stewart by an 8-0 decision. Senior Tanner Mauk beat Gage Welch by 5-3 decision. Roller over Eli Saemisch by fall 1:45. Stork over Dalton Humpal by fall in 2:50. Hosfelt won by fall in 0:57 over Alonzo Zarate. McConkey over Tyler Soll by fall in 1:53. Hansen over Kaleb Olijniczak by decision 6-4.

  • Atlantic-CAM vs. Glenwood

Junior Austin Mills won by Forfeit.  McConkey over Dillon Wiser by decision 3-0. Hansen won by forfeit.

  • Atlantic-CAM vs. Iowa City

Roller over Abbot Ruhinda by fall in 2:39. Stork over Dominic McCullough, fall 0:36. Hansen over Ryan Ceynar with a fall in 1:03. Hosfelt by forfeit.

Coach Drew Duff said, “As a team (we) were 3-2 . We have to work on cleaning up some minor mistakes, things that are hurting us in matches. We need to get better with fundamentals.”

The Atlantic-CAM wrestling team is hosting the Rollin Dyer tournament here at Atlantic High School Saturday, Jan. 9, at 10 a.m.
