Application Extravaganza Review

By Katelyn Blake

On Dec. 28, 2010, the Cass County Extension Office hosted a workshop about resume and scholarship planning.  Former 4-Her’s and Atlantic High School students Victoria Frisbie and Curtis Ullerich led the workshop along with Cass County Youth Coordinator, Susan Oliver.

Five students and one parent were present and ready to soak in all the information possible.  After a few get-to-know-you activities the group was ready to begin.  Upon arrival, everyone was instructed to pick up a note pad, pencil, and a two-gigabyte flash drive of various colors.

Attendees were given tips to build a resume for future events.  The first step to preparing a resume is creating a personal inventory.  This should include every activity you are in, a description, the date you took part in it, as well as how many hours for the activity.  If an updated resume is necessary in the future, the information is easy to access.

Sophomore Jake Aeurbach commented on making a personal inventory, “It really helped me figure out a way to keep track of all the things I’m involved in and activities I participate in.”
