On Saturday, March 21, the girls track team started the season off with an indoor meet at Central College. Approximately 27 teams competed, with the Trojans finishing 14.

Junior Tiffany Williams made an impression and finished second in the 3000 with a time of 10:54. She beat her state time from last year by 15 seconds, and is coming close to beating graduate Ali Krogman’s record of about 10:40. Williams also placed seventh in the 400 meter run. One of the 4×400 relay teams finished eighth overall. The team consisted of sophomores Lexi Freund and Paige Henderson, Williams, and senior Allie Siggins.

Head coach Paul Iekel said, “(I’m) real happy overall. A lot of good performances and improvements for people over last year’s times.” Iekel said the team needs to continue to improve all season long.

The girls will host their next competition on March 31. They will be competing against the north division of the Hawkeye Ten Conference, the meet is to begin at 4:30 pm. Iekel wants the team to place as one of the top two teams.
