This past weekend, select members of the AHS Music Department attended auditions for choir, band, and orchestra performances at the All-State level, resulting in six AHS students being accepted.

Among those accepted outright were senior Ben Parker (as a Tenor 1,) junior Lydia Joseph (as a Soprano 2,) and sophomores Anna Iekel and Nadia Somers (as a Alto 1 and French Horn, respectively.)  Five other students were recalled for more thorough auditions, and from these two more Atlantic students were chosen to perform: senior Halee Glenn (as an Alto 1) and junior Sarah McCance (as a Soprano 1.)

The students who auditioned had been practicing since July 30, two weeks before the 2014-2015 school year began.  Since that day, the 19 auditionees have averaged over 30 hours of practicing apiece.  The accepted musicians will perform on Nov. 22 at the Hilton Coliseum in Ames.
