In their second away game of the year, the boys soccer team lost to 4th ranked Riverside 5-2. The Trojans kept the game close throughout the first half and most of the second half until Riverside pushed their offense and scored two late goals.
Throughout the game, the Trojans went down 1-0 when Travis Henningsen scored the first goal of the game for Riverside. About 12 minutes later, Matt Smith put an equalizer in the backside, bottom left corner. Then with 8 minutes left in the half, Riverside would find the back of the net on a goal that deflected off of Senior Defender Cal Heuton. The game was tied 2-1 at the half.
In the second half, the Trojans came out strong and put pressure on the Riverside defense, which was interrupted by a quick goal by Riverside. The Trojans put the pressure back on and eventually scored putting the score at 3-2. The game remained close until there were about 10 minutes left. Riverside was able to put together a strong offensive push when they scored twice in under 10 minutes, ending the game at 5-2.
Next week, the Trojans play against Glenwood, Nodaway Valley, and will finish the week off with a tournament.
