How to Manage School Related Stress (Opinion)

How+to+Manage+School+Related+Stress+%28Opinion%29

By Monica Brewer

With the Atlantic High School 2013-2014 school year just about over, the fourth quarter will make or break your grade.  If you have school-related stress, you are among the 27% of students that experience this kind of stress over the school year.  These are just some ways to decrease stress & keep all of you sane.

The first thing to do is to identify the signs of school-related stress.  They could be classified as signs of depression to wanting to give up on a certain assignments, projects, or even school all together.  I’ve had some of these signs before where I’ve hit a depression & didn’t want to get anything done because it was so hard.  It can also cause people to “feel sick” when they aren’t really sick at all.  It can cause them to have headaches, stomach aches, & loss of energy.  With so many ways to get stressed, how do you manage it?

Here’s some ways to reduce or manage your stress.  First, manage your time more wisely & maybe invest some time into organizing your schedule.  Over the course of a couple weeks, you’ll have an easier time with projects, assignments, & acing a test or quiz if you manage how you study or how you study.  You could also manage your stress because there’s ways to deal with it.  Among the nation, mostly guys either distract themselves from the problem or avoid it all together.  While most girls like to seek support for their stress or confront it themselves.

Here’s a tip: the next time that you study, don’t study over 45 minutes.  If you have to, take 5 minute breaks in between.  You’ll be able to recollect your thoughts and your brain won’t end up fried.  I end this with the words of Steve Maraboli who wrote the book Unapologetically You: Reflections on Life and the Human Experience,  “I promise you nothing is as chaotic as it seems. Nothing is worth diminishing your health. Nothing is worth poisoning yourself into stress, anxiety, and fear.”
