Trojans Fall to A-D-M Tigers

By Rachelle Wagoner

Friday, October 4, the Atlantic Trojans Football team traveled to Adel to play the A-D-M Tigers.  The game was a little different than normal due to a chance of severe weather and A-D-M’s homecoming. The varsity game was moved to 5:30 and the freshman game to Monday, Oct. 14.

A-D-M jumped to an early lead of 21-0 after the first quarter.  The second quarter wasn’t in the Trojan’s favor either, letting A-D-M score an additional 14 points.  At half, things started to turn around.  Atlantic started moving the ball better and their defense stepped up, only allowing 3 points to be scored the entire second half.

Senior captain Jacob Johnson said, “We came out slow and it went downhill from there.  After a game like that, it makes us want to work harder in practice.”

Brody Peterson played in Friday night’s game after coming off a four week knee injury. Peterson said, “We came out dead and didn’t have much enthusiasm to start the game.  We’re capable of playing at a higher level and we plan to work harder in practice to show that for next game.”

The game time didn’t affect the players.  But, the field was very wet and muddy. The players had an extra tough time planting and keeping their feet under them on the slippery field.

The Trojans play next on Friday Oct. 11 at home against Perry.  This will be the Trojan’s pink out game and their last home game of the season.
