Starting the School Year Off Right

Starting+the+School+Year+Off+Right

By Monica Brewer and Justin Somers

The 2013-2014 school year has started.  Monica Brewer and Justin Somers went around the 8th period study hall to interview five random people to see how they currently feel about the school year.

Mr. Wood’s Anatomy class is starting the year off right! They are doing an activity with different anatomical terms and movements.

They asked the five same questions to each of the interviewees, and  recorded their responses.

1. How is the year going so far?

2. What are you looking forward to this year?

3. Do you have any goals for this year?

4. What activities are you looking forward to join, if any?

5.What activities would you like the school to offer, if any?

Generally, every student agreed that the school year was going pretty well, with not a single student having a negative response.  According to Junior Stephanie Freund, “It’s good, pretty slow so far, but it’s going well.”

With the second response, most of the students were excited for various sporting events, extracurricular activities and AHS Fuel.

Following up with the third response, the five students either wanted to do well with their extracurricular activities, or do well in school.  Darien Mills mentioned how she would like to make the honor roll, while senior Morgan Munsey wanted to pass all his classes with A’s and B’s.

Fourthly, the five students replied with a variety of responses, the majority of them were looking forward to their sports activities, while a few were also looking forward to the various dances.  Munsey responded with “I’m a stage manager for the play.  I can’t wait for pep band to start up.”  Stephanie Freund mentioned how she was looking forward for student council.

Finally, we asked the students if they would be interested in any new activities.  Three out of the five students thought that the school is currently doing just fine with it’s various activities.  An anonymous student responded with, “Curling, I want curling…” while Munsey replied with “Full Contact Cross Country.”
