Are you interested in construction and other building trades like carpentry, plumbing, electricity, or heating and ventilation? Try Introduction to Construction! It is easy to do, and it is the law. Failure to register can interfere with your plans for financial aid to college and can lead up to 5 years in prison.

AHS Spanish Club is doing a canned food drive through May 3^rdto raise money for their trip to Costa Rica. The winning grade that collects the most items will win a Pizza Party from Pizza Ranch!! All non-perishable food items are welcome. All items will be donated to the food pantry.

Attention all students who are donating blood today. Please check your gmail accounts. Reminders will be emailed to you. All 16 year olds need to have a signed permission form or you won’t be allowed to give. Everyone needs to bring a photo ID. Make sure you eat a nutritious meal, drink a lot of water and get a full night’s sleep.

Last year 7 AHS students had a great time and did well at the Annual Math Day at IWCC in Council Bluffs. This year it will be on Thursday, April 18 at IWCC. The PSAT/NMSQT exam will be given at Atlantic High School on Wednesday, October 17th from 8:00-11:00 in the Multi-Purpose Building. Strong academic juniors planning to attend a

4-year college may take this test. The PSAT is a good “practice” test for the SAT or the ACT. The NMSQT is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. This is the only testing date and the only way to qualify to be a National Merit Scholarship finalist. Sophomores who take it will find that the experience may help them score higher as a junior; they will also start communication with colleges. The sign up sheet is in the guidance office. The flu clinic will be October 12. Any student wanting a flu shot will need to have their consent form returned by October 1st.

Tryouts for this year’s Fall Play Production are being held through Thursday this week both before and after school in Room 305. All interested students are welcome to try out. Tryouts will be completed on Thursday afternoon, and the cast list will be posted on Friday morning. Tryout materials are now available in Room 305. For more information, please see Mr. Shuman or check one of the tryout posters up in various locations around the building.

Study Table will meet in Mr. Shuman’s room today from 2-3:30 PM. Any student who is failing a class and is in an activity, must attend Study Table to remain eligible.

Student Support Services in the media center will offer an after school study session from 3:19 until 4:00 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday this semester for students that need assistance with homework.
