Thirty to fifty percent of American teens drink energy drinks at least once a day (ABCnews). The energy drink, Monster has been linked to five people’s deaths. Researchers cannot directly link Monster to the deaths but they can link it to irregular heart beats (NBCnews).
Energy drinks, based on the research that has been done, cannot be called or be seen as safe or non-harmful substance. Or vise versa. Energy drinks can cause caffeine intoxication, which can make your body jittery, have difficulty sleeping, or cause an irregular heartbeat.
Senior Maisie Williams said,” I used to drink too many energy drinks to count,” but she stopped drinking them because, “they’re not healthy and they decrease your run time.” Many AHS students drink energy drinks. Junior Dillion Cox said, “I drink Monster straight up,” because ,“it’s good, and tastes amazing.”
Many energy drinks cause different effects on different people. Cox said they have no effects on his body, they just make him use the restroom often. Many researchers are finding new things every day about energy drinks. In conclusion, energy drinks aren’t the best choice when choosing a drink.
