The Atlantic Trojanns girl’s soccer team hired a new assistant coach, Jordan Newberg. Newberg went to college at Northwest Missouri State University, but he did not play soccer while in Maryville.
When asked about about his first game as a coach on Monday April 2 against Kuemper, Newberg said, “The game will be interesting because there will be two starters gone and one starter out because she is ineligable.” He also said, “The team’s strength is their defense, and they are good at breaking down and getting the ball out of the area.” Newberg also commented on improvements the team needs to work on, such as, ball control and communicating on the field. When asked if there are any leaders on the team, he commented, “Reann Cappell is a team leader, as are all the seniors on the team. They are very positive.”
