This is Part II of a multi-part story exploring the Cass County Educational Opportunity Center (CCEOC).
Senior Joe Vanatta, 18, has attended the CCEOC for a year and a half. He decided to go because he was three credits behind and needed to make them up to graduate.
Vanatta says that one of the difficulties in going to the CCEOC is that he only has a few friends there. When asked what he misses about AHS, Vanatta said he misses his friends most. Vanatta said that it is definitely different than the high school in that it is “awfully boring. Come here, do work, and you don’t talk.”
But Vanatta said he will finish out his high school education at the CCEOC. “I’m going to stay here. There is no use in going to AHS for the last 30 days. Less of a pain.”
Vanatta commented, “It’s not a good idea. Just don’t go down that path. It’s definitely not fun.”
