This is Part IV of a multi-part story exploring the Cass County Educational Opportunity Center (CCEOC).
Jeremy Stone, 16, goes to the CCEOC for school every day. He’s been going to the CCEOC for two months now, after he moved to Atlantic from Onawa, Iowa. Stone decided to go to the CCEOC because he was behind in credits. As a sophomore, he only had two due to issues at his last high school. The CCEOC allowed him to make up these lost credits to graduate on time.
All of Stone’s classes are given in lessons, and he is required to learn and test over the material by himself. When asked about how he liked the CCEOC compared to his past school, Stone said, “I like it way better, hands down.” He explained how the staff was more one to one, learning was at your own pace, and how the community was good. Stone plans to graduate from the CCEOC in 2 years and go to college for mechanics.
