Trojanns pick up much needed first win

by Anthony Robinson

The Trojanns were nearly perfect from the field in the second half, scoring 42 of their 68 points, in the second half of Tuesday night’s 68-54 victory over the Red Oak Tigers.

Atlantic led after each quarter and never let up their defensive pressure at any point during the game.

The girls improve to 1-4 on the season after the win.

After shooting poorly from beyond the three-point arc in the first half, the Trojanns made five three-point field goals in the second half.

The Trojanns went on a 6-0 run after trailing 7-4 early in the game.

The game stayed close through halftime until Shelby Worth hit a three-point field goal to break a 30-30 tie at the midway point in the third quarter.

Defensively the Trojanns applied tremendous pressure against the Tigers. The girls converted stops on the defensive end into easy buckets in the front court.

Atlantic led by as many as 18 in the fourth quarter.

The Trojanns host the Kuemper Knights on Friday night.

Atlantic Scoring- Mackenzie Holmes: 17, Shelby Worth: 12, Sam McConnell: 10, Ali Krogman: 10, Alex Hartwig: 9, Paige Kennon: 6, Liz Guttenfelder-4
