    AHS Blood Drive Results

    By Paul Honke

The results are in for the AHS blood drive and unfortunately the amount of blood collected was less than hoped.

On Oct. 12, 2011 Atlantic High School did the first blood drive of the new school year. The blood drive was sponsored by the Red Cross and was put together by the National Honors Society. The goal according to NHS sponsor Sheila Hayden was to get 110 pints of blood. This year the blood drive only earned 68.

“Obviously we were disappointed, but still 68 pints is not so bad,” said Hayden.

Probably the biggest reason for the blood drive not earning 110 pints of blood is the sports season. Many athletes were unable to give blood to due complications it would bring to their practices. There are three sports going on during fall; Cross Country, football, and volleyball.

With the unavailability of athletes giving blood the AHS blood drive earned less than what was hoped.
