Over the last week, students at AHS have been wearing new hemp-and-bead bracelets. These bracelets are the product of junior Paige Kennon who is making and selling them to help raise funds for a child in need. AHSneedle caught up to Kennon and asked her a few questions about the bracelets and their purpose:
AHSneedle: What is the main reason behind these bracelets?
Paige Kennon (PK): I needed a donations project for my independent study, and I chose to have a fundraiser using bracelets.
AHSneedle: Where are the proceeds of these bracelets going?
PK: Chey Reinhardt. She lives in Massena and is in need of a medical dog.
AHSneedle: How did you find this cause?
PK: Ian McNees told me about her.
AHSneedle: How long does it take you to hand make one bracelet?
PK: It used to take me close to 30 minutes for each bracelet. Now I can make one in 10 or 15 minutes.
AHSneedle: How many bracelets are you looking to sell?
PK: As many as I can.
AHSneedle: How much do the bracelets cost?
PK: Two dollars.
AHSneedle: When is the deadline to buy a bracelet?
PK: April 8
AHSneedle: Do the bracelets have an alternate use?
PK: You can wear them however you want. Mr. Hinzmann suggested to use them as a key chain. An anklet is also a possibility.
AHSneedle: What sizes of bracelets are you making?
PK: I am making all sizes.
AHSneedle: When are the bracelets being sold?
PK: I can sell a bracelet anytime you see me.
AHSneedle: What is your favorite part of these bracelets?
PK: I enjoy knowing that all the money I collect from them is going to a good cause.
AHSneedle: Other comments:
PK: Everyone should buy one! =)

Good for you. Now someone needs to contact the Atlantic News Telegraph and get an article about these. Personally, I want one! I just need to know how to get one.
