Atlantic Iowa- on March 8, 2011 the school board approved of the construction of a tower that will increase the funds of the school.
A cell phone company has been allowed to rent some land from the school in order to build a cell phone tower. The location of the tower will be behind the school on the hill behind the Atlantic Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.
Atlantic High School has agreed to give permission to rent the land in a 5-year contract agreement. During those five years the cell phone company will pay rental fees to the school. This will be additional funds for Atlantic High School.
When asked if the cell phone tower will have any effect on the students of Atlantic High School cell phones, teacher-librarian Ginger Bechtold confirmed that the tower won’t do much for students.
“The cell phone tower only gives the school extra funds. It will not do anything to the students or their cell phones.”

The only thing the tower might do for students is give a better reception… otherwise, pretty much nothing.
