Ten tractors and four pedal tractors paraded to the high school from Wal-Mart at 7:30 a.m. on Fri., March 10.

The annual National FFA Week event of driving tractors to school was originally scheduled for Feb. 24. However, the event was postponed when school was cancelled for inclement weather.

Sophomore Nathan Behrends’ second year of driving one of the larger tractors of the day, pulled up in a 2006 TG215 New Holland. Behrends said the drive took him 30-35 minutes to get to school, compared to the usual 15 minutes it takes him to drive the 14 miles from his house.

“FFA Tractor Day is a way for our members to show off the machines that are used to feed the world.  This year we have nine tractor’s worth about $1.5 million dollars,” FFA Advisor Eric Miller said.

“I brought my pedal tractor to school on tractor day and I did so because it is a fun and creative way for me to participate,” senior Lexi Freund said.
