The boys’ swim team competed in the State swim meet this past weekend in Marshalltown. Four trojan swimmers swam in five different events. The swimmers were seniors Damon Miller and Eric Weiser, and juniors Nik Landhuis and Jake Redler.

Miller qualified in the 100 and the 200 freestyle. Landhuis qualified in the 100 backstroke. Miller, Weiser, Redler and Landhuis all qualified in the 200 and 400 free relay.

Miller kicked things off for the Trojans by swimming the 200 free, and placed eighth, which was two spots short of the podium. Later he swam the 100 free and placed seventh. He was 0.07 seconds away from being the first Trojan ever on the podium.

The 200 free relay placed 14th which is seven spots better than they were ranked.

Miller said, “It was fun competing at the State tournament, and I was pretty happy with the results.” He also said it, “would’ve been cool to be on the podium, but seventh isn’t bad at all. “
