Friday night the Atlantic boys basketball team returns home after a two-game road stretch. The Trojans will host Lewis Central whose record sits comfortably at 8-1. This will be the one and only matchup between the two teams this season.

Atlantic won both games on the road, first traveling to Denison-Schleswig last Friday while defeating the Monarchs 69-42. Following the game versus Denison, Atlantic defeated Glenwood for the second time this season in a double-header with the girls’ team. Atlantic upset Glenwood 68-62 beating the Rams by six points meanwhile last time the teams competed Atlantic won by just five.

Trojan senior Garrett Franken is currently the sixth highest scorer in the state of Iowa across all classes. Franken averages 23.5 points per game while shooting 50 percent from the field and 45 from three-point range. Junior Austin Alexander leads all Trojan players with 46 assists this season while Franken and junior Grant Podhajsky sit close behind with 40 a piece.
Franken again leads the team in rebounds with 101 total. 25 coming offensively and 76 defensive. Those 101 rebounds from Franken are good for the third spot in Class 3A basketball across the state. Last season Atlantic departed with senior Ryan Hawkins. Hawkins finished first across class 3A in rebounds and fifth in the state of Iowa last season.
