The Trojan wrestlers received good news after their quad on Tuesday before returning from break when all 14 varsity team members pinned their opponents and got a perfect score. The meet was in Woodbine and the opposing teams were, Woodbine, Logan Magnolia, and Battle Creek-Grove.

Coach Tucker Weber said, “It feels good, it means your guys are competing at their very best although the competition wasn’t the best it was still hard to do and it means everyone gave it their all and tried.” Weber also said, “It’s rare I couldn’t give you a statistic, I know my team did it twice when I was in school, it means you have a solid team so it’s pretty hard to do, Duff hasn’t done it in the 12 years he’s coached, It’s like holding a basketball team under 5 points.”

Chase McLaren a sophomore who wrestles at 126 is currently ranked 9th in the state. McLaren said, “This was kind of special because it’s not very often that a team can go out there and put all 14 guys on the mat and pull together a perfect score.” McLaren added, “All 14 guys had to get pins and it shows how strong we are as a wrestling team and how well we work together as a team. It was a good all around team effort I didn’t realise how well we did at first.”

John McConkey a junior who wrestles at 285 and is currently ranked 3rd in the state said, “We need to just keep working towards our individual and team goals, winning the hawkeye ten and winning state, I individually wanna win state and as a team place top 3 for the tournament and the duels.”
