The Boys’ Basketball Team Advances Their Record to 7-3.

On Friday, Jan. 6, the boys’ basketball team traveled to Denison to take on the Monarchs. The team came out on top with their first victory in three games.

Junior Austin Alexander scored the first basket of the night in the first few seconds of the game.

The Trojans were able to hold a strong lead, ending the first quarter 16-6.

In the second half sophomore Chase Mullenix and senior Garrett Franken scored back to back three pointers, advancing the lead to 32-11.

By halftime the Trojans were ahead 34-14.

In the third, the Monarchs went on a 4-0 run barely closing the gap to 34-18. By the end of the third the Trojans were ahead 49-30.

In the fourth, the varsity team was replaced the JV team to finish out the game.

The Trojans defeated the Monarchs 69-42. The team’s record is now 7-3.

Senior Garrett Franken and junior Scott Leonard both had 19 points a piece, and junior Austin Alexander followed close behind with 15.

The Trojans next game is tomorrow, Jan. 10, at Glenwood High School for their second match-up of the season.
