Update on Waldstein

Nick Joyce

Last school year, Eric Waldstein resigned from AHS as both a weights/gym teacher and the head football coach.

He now coaches at Rochester Community and Technical College in Rochester, Minnesota.

Waldstein said that his team is doing good and they are on a 4 game winning streak going into the last game of the regular season against Ridgewater Community College. He said his team will play in the conference playoffs against a team that they beat in week five of the regular season.

We are optimistic about our chances to make a run in the Conference Championship Playoffs.  If we can continue our current winning streak, we have a great chance to play in a bowl game in December” said Waldstein.

Waldstein also said, “The players here are great. We have some guys that have a chance to play NCAA DI and DII football at the next level.  They work really hard, are coachable and are committed to the team and being a student-athlete.  We have some building to do in the off season, and we want to increase our roster numbers for next year, but with a year to recruit, we expect to have our roster numbers around 100-120 by fall camp next season.” Waldstein said that he has a good coaching staff.

Waldstein has impacted the players and students of AHS, and vice versa. “I miss some of the students, teachers and coaches that I used to work around, but it was a good move, and it was the best option for my family,” said Waldstein.

He is excited for his future at RCTC and hopes to continue his career there for many more years.
