Trojan Guard Competes in Clarinda

The one and only band competition the Trojan Guard participated in this year’s Clarinda Parade marching.

They received 6th place out of eight schools which were Waverly, Creston, Savannah, Harlan, Glenwood, Maryville and Atchison.

According to band director Jarrod O’Donnell, this year competing was a major improvement from last year.

O’Donnell said, “The corner judge scored us very high compared to what we usually get in all my years here. They like the sound. The first two (judges) were impressed with our marching and corners and the third judge saw some feet out of step and some wobbling.”

Some of the students weren’t very happy with the Trojan Guard’s performance because of a few mistakes they made.

Senior Morganne Cameron said, “We could have yelled ha and set halt because other bands did and we didn’t. My freshman year we all screamed set halt and ha.”

In years past, the Trojan Guard competed in field competitions as well as parade marching.
