Trojans Look to Take Down the Undefeated Panthers

Tonight Friday, Sept. 23, The Atlantic Trojan boys’ varsity football team will travel to Creston to take on the Panthers in a Hawkeye-10 matchup. The Trojans are coming into the game with a 1-3 record, and the Panthers with a 4-0 record.

The Trojans are coming off a hard 24-7 loss to the Winterset Huskies. Creston is coming off a win against Denison-Schleswig 42-7. Earlier this season the Trojans had a tough time against the Monarchs.

Creston can move the ball offensively; they have a total of 1720 yards. Senior Chase Schiltz and junior Mitchel Swank account for most of the rushing. Schiltz has 697 total rushing yards, and Swank has 223 yards on the ground. Sophomore quarterback Kylan Smallwood has passed for 350 yards with no interceptions.

The Trojans have struggled with their offense lately and have a total offense of 756 yards. They have 428 rushing yards and 328 receiving yards. Senior Drake Roller and junior Noah Bruckner account for most of the rushing yards in the first four games. Roller has 92 yards and Bruckner has 186. Junior quarterback Jaxson Eden has thrown for 245 yards two touchdowns, and three interceptions.

The game will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Creston High School. Both teams have hopes of coming away with a win.
