Last night, both girl’s and boy’s tennis teams played the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs. The boys defeated the Monarchs 6-3, while the girls lost to last year’s H-10 conference champions 0-9.

For the boys in singles, #1 sophomore Grant Podhajsky lost 6-10, #2 sophomore Cooper McDermott won 10-6, #3 sophomore Kalob Flory lost 7-10, #4 junior Caleb Williams won 10-6, #5 sophomore Luke Hohenberger won 11-10 in a 10 point tie-break, and #6 senior William Weppler won 11-9.

In doubles, #1 Podhajsky and McDermott won 10-8, #2 Flory and Williams lost 6-10, and #3 Hohenberger and Weppler won 11-10 in a 10 point tie-break.

On the girls side, #1 junior Jena Brosam lost in split sets 1-1, #2 junior Olivia Davis lost both sets 0-6, #3 junior Kyja Arnold lost both sets 0-6, #4 sophomore Heather Freund lost both sets 0-6, #5 junior Carly Westphalen lost 0-6, 2-6, and #6 junior Ashley Freund lost both sets 0-6.

In doubles #1 Brosam and Arnold lost 1-6, 0-6, #2 H. Freund and Westphalen lost 0-6, 1-6, #3 A. Freund and senior Alex McCurdy lost 0-6, 0-6.

The Trojan’s next meet is tomorrow, Thurs. April 21, against the Clarinda Cardinals. The boys play at home, and the girls are away.
