Blood drive donations to help local child

Junior Dillion Sharp giving doubles and saving up to six lives.

by Anthony Robinson

The National Honor Society will expand the power of its blood drive to help a child with a rare autoimmune disease.  NHS has invited local businesses and individuals to contribute an amount of money per unit of blood donated at the drive on Wednesday, Jan. 26.   This money will go towards a fund for the Addison Lennon-Glade family.  According to the Atlantic News-Telegraph, Addison, the two-year old daughter of Nick Glade and Abigail Lennon, has a rare cancer-like disease that is found in only one in 400,000 children.

At this time, businesses and individuals have donated amounts varying from $0.25 to $1.10 per unit of blood collected.  The NHS blood drive generally collects approximately 100 units of blood.

The following businesses and individuals will be contributing to the fund:

Dance Atlantic

NAPA Auto Parts

Fuzzywumpus Movies

Body Basics Chiropractic

Akin Building Centers

Schuler Manufacturing

Wickman Chemical

Hy-Vee Grocery

Wise Motels

Jared Coder

Allison Berryhill

The Koontz Family

Designer Portraits By Ann

ASI (Audiological Services of Iowa)

Concept Builders

Ms. Hayden

Mark Foegan

Jessi Arneson

Businesses and individuals who would like to make a pledge per blood unit donated should contact senior NHS president Melanie Ehlert or adviser Shiela Hayden at .
