On Saturday, March 26, the girls’ track team traveled to the University of South Dakota to compete before the outdoor track season started.

The throwers had a good day Coach Iekel said. In the shot, Cheyenne Elliott, a sophomore, threw a 32-01.5 feet and sophomore Sidney Svobada threw 31-0.  Junior Anna Iekel threw a PR at 25-0/

Senior Tiffany Williams had a good day also, taking first place in the 1500. She ran a PR in the 800 and took second with a time right under 2:30 for the first time ever.

Freshman Karsyn Rush came in fifth in the 400 and third in the 3000. Iekel said, “As we learned from XC, [Rush] is a very good distance runner; she and teammate Sierra [Parker] took off too quickly at the start and they both paid for it.  But that’s part of being a freshman and learning to run the different distances efficiently.”

Belicia Smith had a good day in the hurdles and 800, said Iekel. He also commented on the 1500 runners, saying they ran well together. “Megan [Behrends] ran a good 800 in her first attempt in competition at the distance,” said Iekel.
