Prom Planning

Kole Hansen and Devin Siedlik

Mark your calendars and clear your schedules for Prom on April 9th. Prom will be located at Atlantic High School, and after prom will be held at the Nishna Valley Family YMCA. This year’s theme is “Dancing Through The Decades”. The junior class raised over $2000 for Prom activities and decorations by selling magazines and raffling off a quilt. Bailey Schildberg is the president of the junior class, and Ashley Freund is the class treasurer. Prom advisor, Pat Wiederien explained how the music will be chosen, “There’s a mix of both slow and fast songs. Similar to all the other dances, the DJ puts them in a certain order”.

Junior Tori Krogh said the thing she is most excited about is, “Just going with a good group of friends”. Krogh also said, “I think there should be hypnotists”, since in previous years there have been a hypnotist, but this year there is a magician instead. Krogh prefers an open prom because her boyfriend goes to a different school. Alec Hayes said he likes the closed Prom, because of more people from your class and less people you don’t know.  Hayes said, “I am very excited about Prom, and getting to wear a tuxedo”. Hayes said the theme doesn’t matter to him but he is fine with the current theme.

Junior Deanna Roark said that she is a little excited for her first Prom, especially the dressing up part.  Roark is a fan of the closed type of Prom. She wished after Prom had more fun activities. Junior Kelbe Flathers noted that she would like an open Prom for just Atlantic, with the freshmen and sophomores able to go. Flathers likes the “Dancing Through The Decades” theme and is most excited for Prom and after prom. Junior Nate Moen mentioned that he is most excited about the guys being able to drive their nice cars and trucks to Prom. Moen prefers,“Open, but the dates have to be signed in.” Moen answered about either open or closed Prom. He also said Prom has a good variety of activities.
