As the Clarinda Cardinals girls’ basketball team prepares to take on the Trojans on the road Friday night, Atlantic is looking to pick up an arguably easy win and boost their confidence before playing an undefeated Treynor girls’ basketball team in their home gym.

The 7-7 Trojans are seeking to extend their current win streak to two games after dropping back-to-back games to Glenwood and Lewis Central. Meanwhile Clarinda is looking to snap an 11-game losing streak after winning their only game on opening night in Clarinda against Lenox.

Atlantic has been struggling to stay above .500 this basketball season, they began the season 4-0 before dropping three of their next four to close out the calendar year. The Trojans have gone 2-4 following the winter break, but beat Denison-Schleswig to sweep the Monarchs for the second season in a row.

Clarinda is seeking their second win of the season and their first of 2016. The Cardinals’ last won 72-43 over Lenox on Nov., 24.

The Trojans look to pick up the win on their home court Friday night before heading on the road to play Treynor (12-0) and then returning back home to play Harlan (12-1).
