Trojans Maintain Undefeated Record

Although the Trojans faced tough competition Friday night, they pulled out a win showing what they’re really made of.

On Friday, Dec. 18, the boys’ basketball team traveled to Shenandoah to take on the Mustangs.

Early in the first quarter the Trojans lead 6-3 after sophomore Austin Alexander and junior Garrett Franken shot back to back three pointers. Throughout the quarter, the Trojans and the Mustangs fought hard to keep up with each other tying up the game several times before ending the first quarter, with a Mustang lead, 22-20.

Towards the end of the second quarter, the Trojans were trailing the Mustangs by 6, which was the biggest point deficit all night.

By the end of the second half the team caught up to Shenandoah, tying up game 36-36.

After halftime, the Trojans came out with only one thing on their mind, winning.

In the third, the Trojans took the lead 45-42.

As fourth quarter came around the Trojans and the Mustangs were once again tied, 50-50. With 0:34 seconds to go the Trojans were ahead 62-60, and had the ball. Relying on their defense, the Trojans were ahead 64-62.

With only two seconds left the Trojans were able to keep the Mustangs from scoring, and advance their record to 6-0.

The final score of the game was 64-62.

Franken led the team with 26 points, and Senior Ryan Hawkins was right behind with 20.

Tomorrow, Dec. 22, the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams play Carroll Kuemper. Girls play at home, and the boys are away. Tip off is at 7:30, the theme for the home game is ugly sweaters.
