This past season for the Atlantic Trojans was hard and rough for the team.

The Trojans lost their first game to the Clarinda Cardinals. The following week they came away with a win against the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs. The Trojans suffered two season ending injuries in the first two weeks. Sophomore Ben Renaud broke his fibula and junior Nathan Gifford tore his ACL, MCL, and Meniscus sponge. The rest of the season there were more injuries to come as the Trojans finished out their last 7 games.

The Trojans fell to the Glenwood Rams, and senior Kyle Nelson also suffered a serious concussion that sidelined him for 2 games. The next week against Adel-Desoto-Minburn the Trojans fell again and another starter went down, sophomore John McConkey broke his Femur and was out for the rest of the season. Harlan and Dallas Center- Grimes were the next two games. The Trojans lost to Harlan 69-7 and we lost two more starters, junior Zac Stork suffered a major concussion and a sprained neck and sophomore Dillon Sonntag sustained a concussion.

Then, the Trojans played Dallas Center-Grimes. The Trojans played a tough first quarter with the score 0-0, but they ended up losing the game 55-0. The next two weeks Atlantic played Shenandoah and Winterset at the Trojan Bowl. Shenandoah was the homecoming game, the Trojans ended up losing despite a hard fought game. Next week against Winterset the Trojans lost again despite playing hard and never giving up.

The last week against Creston the Trojans had a close game with the score being 35-22 in the first half, but the Trojans could not score again in the second half and Atlantic lost in rainy, sloppy weather 64-22. Atlantic Finished the season with a 1-8 record.
